Press Release: Paradise won Sixth Annual Fatima-Shah Muhammad Memorial Hockey Tournament

Paradise Hockey Club won the Sixth Annual Fatima-Shah Muhammad Memorial Hockey Tournament by defeating Tiger Hockey Club Farooqabad by 1-0 in a tough match. Theme of the tournament was “Make Pakistan Polio Free / End Polio Now.” PARADISE, PROMARK and Rotary Club of Lahore Garrison organized the five day tournament at village Chak 73/RB Karianwala, Faisalabad. Twenty four teams participated in it. Paradise Hockey Club received the Champions trophy and Rs. 20,000 cash while Tiger Hockey Club Farooqabad received the Runners-Up trophy and Rs. 15,000 cash. Ali Raza from Paradise Hockey Club was declared Man of the Match while Amin Yousaf from Tiger Hockey Club was declared Man of the Tournament. Polio t-shirts and caps were presented to guests in the final match. Chaudhry Iqbal, former minister Education, and Mir Arif Ali, District Governor Rotary International Pakistan, were the chief guests. Lt Gen Ch Sardar Ali, Col Nawab Ali and Mukhtar Ahmad welcomed guests on behalf of the organizing committee. Past District Governor Anthony Richards, Air Commodore Muhammad Aamer, Abdullah Bin Aamer, Mubarik Shahid, Saeed Khokhar, Waseem Aslam, Ch Siddique Sindhu, Dr Sakhiyya Sakhaullah, Nauman Siddiqui, Imran Asif, Muhammad Bilal, Pervez Khalid Sheikh, Rana Wajid and Usman Khurshid participated in the event along with a large number of village elders and notables. Patron-in-Chief Paradise Hockey Club & Past District Governor Shehzad Ahmed and Tournament Coordinator Iqbal Malik (Bali) organized the tournament. PROMARK, Rotary’s National PolioPlus Committee and Interloop sponsored the five day event. Cannon Foam, University of Warwick Men’s Hockey Club and Coca Cola provided support in kind.
