Delegation from Royal College of Emergency Medicine visits SZAB Medical University - BY : Habib Ahmad


A delegation led by Dr. Tajek Hassan, President Royal College of Emergency Medicine London along with Dr. Ayaz Abbasi visited Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (PIMS) Islamabad which was warmly received by its Vice Chancellor, Prof. JavedAkram along with Prof. Muhammad Amjad Chaudhry, Registrar (SZABMU) and Controller of Examination Prof.Tanwir Khaliq.

The several points to prepare clinicians to practice patient-centered emergency medicine of the highest quality and to identify and answer fundamental questions with regard to prevention and treatment of diseases, in health care delivery and emergency medicine by to improve health through leadership, discovery and innovation patient care, education and research, discussed in the meeting. The several matters were pinned pointed to advance national health through teaching, research and services, foster innovation, to build and bring about fresh, creative solutions that address the health needs of the Pakistani community including to attract the best and brightest minds and train them as future national leaders, and in setting standards of excellence among faculty, staff and to recruit, retain, nurture and promote those who represent the best in the country. The meeting discussed to advance the academic and professional ranks of the very best faculty and staff through mentoring, training and strategic management of career transitions, building upon a diverse community of clinicians, administrators, staff, trainees and students together with monitoring, transparency and accountability, strengthening of health care by uplifting Medical education and urgent reform in state of advanced Medical Education in Pakistan. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Imran Sikandar, Prof. Syed Aslam Shah, Dr. AnsarMaqsood, Dr. Zahoor Rana and Dr. Zainab Abdullah were also present in this meeting. The Vice Chancellor, DrJavedAkram thanked the delegation and to ensure high quality care by setting and monitoring standards of care, and providing expert guidance and advice on policy to relevant bodies on matters relating to Emergency Medicine.

Meanwhile an MOU took placed between SZAB Medical University (PIMS) and The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons Glasgow to take their Fellowship (FRCS/MRCP) examinations in Pakistan, Dr. Amjad Chuadhry tells. According to this MOU the University will provide the space and logistic support to the Royal College to conduct their Fellowship examinations in Islamabad, Pakistan.
