Pakistan officials condemn the assault on Saeed Al-Shehri Dr. Jassim Taqui

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan Dr. Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Al-Ghadeer is pleased to express thanks and gratitude to all Pakistani officials and everyone who visited, made contact or sent bouquets of roses to His Excellency during the period he remained in the hospital recently. His Excellency would like to reassure his feelings of affection for all people of Pakistan whom he considers his big family.

Indeed His Excellency preferred to undergo the surgery in one of the Pakistani hospitals under the supervision of Pakistani physicians because of his trust in their ability, competence and exceptionally brilliant expertise. His Excellency is also grateful to the medical team who supervised the operation and prays to Allah Almighty to save the people of Pakistan from every harm and adversity.

Al-Ghadeer was referring to the assault by ASF personnel at Benazir International Airport on Saeed Al-Shehri an official of the Saudi embassy after an exchange of hot words. The scuffle took place when airport security officials stopped Al-Shehri for security check.

Following the incident the Saudi ambassador to Pakistan, reached the airport. ASF sources claimed that Al-Shehri was not an official of the Saudi embassy, adding he was here for a military course. However, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani ordered Interior Minister Rehman Malik to initiate a high-level inquiry into the incident.

On the other hand, sources in the Saudi Airline said the military man was a member of the Saudi embassy and he was to leave for Riyadh via flight SV 732.
