Noura will live! - Amnesty International

Dear Rana,

Thanks to you, Sudan has overturned Noura Hussein’s death sentence!

Immediately after her sentence was made public, we got together to campaign against the court’s decision. In just two months, 400,000 Amnesty supporters like you signed our petition.

Initially, we broke the inbox of the Sudanese Ministry of Justice with a flood of messages. But that didn’t stop us. We continued pressuring Sudan to repeal Noura’s sentence and in the end… we did it! A Sudanese court has just overturned Noura’s death sentence.

A year ago, Noura’s husband suffered fatal knife wounds during a fight in which he attempted to rape her for the second time. Her life was then turned completely upside down when her own father took her to the police. She was arrested and later sentenced to death.

But we made all the difference.

We helped save Noura’s life. She’s recently passed her school exams in prison and can now pursue her dream to become a lawyer one day. Without you, this may never have been possible.

But the fact remains that Noura was the victim of a brutal attack by her husband. We hope that the Sudanese authorities take this opportunity to start reforming their laws around child marriage, forced marriage and marital rape.

Let’s make sure that Noura is the last victim to go through this ordeal.

Help us grow an even stronger movement for change, so we can make even more difference for those that need it most.

Please ask two friends to join today.

Many thanks
