Fozia Fayyaz Ahmed become first female Consular at Consulate General Pakistan Jeddah in the 70 years history of Pakistan's foreign service office.

Talking exclusively to Saudi Gazette at her office in consulate Jeddah recently, the newly arrived carrier female diplomat Fozia Fayyaz said Pakistan is a progressive country. Women are working in all fields. They are doing wonderful jobs. Our people have great regards for them. Everyone trusts on them and cooperate with them. Pakistan as a society is recognizing the women role and Pakistan's Ministry of foreign Affairs (MOFA) is more progressive then society. It opened doors for women at all levels.

At present the head of the institution is Mrs. Tahmina Janjua and the special secretary is Madam Tasneem Aslam. But Pakistan foreign office did not assigned any female diplomat to Saudi Arabia during the past 70 years of history neither in Riyadh or in Jeddah.

I am the first female diplomat to serve in KSA. I am over all in-charge of consular section which provided facilities to service seekers such as passports, national identity cards, renewal and extension, travel documents etc.

Fozia told Saudi Gazette that she has a very traditional back ground. She come from the part of Pakistan which is called southern Punjab. It is Saraiki belt of Pakistan where she born in very traditional set-up. She said in that area before people do not gave much emphasis on girls education specially the higher education. But I am proud and shall give credit to my late father (Fayyaz Ahmad) who had vision, passion and courage that daughters should also get higher education. So with his given confidence I got higher education.

I holds master degree in English literature from Islamic University of Bahawalpur then passed Central Superior Service Exam (CSS exam) conducted by Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) Islamabad and then joined foreign service of Pakistan.

My first posting was at Washington DC, and it was very rewarding and professional experience to work in such a big capital city. Then for a few years I served in Islamabad. After that my next posting was in New Delhi India.

Washington has different dynamics and New Delhi dynamics was totally different. In Delhi I got a chance to work in challenging environment and I learned a lot there.

KSA is my third diplomatic posting. This is a new job for me because previously I had political assignments. But I am really taking it very positively.

She expressed happiness that due to her presence in consulate the accessibility of women has been increased. Some time women also discussed their personnel issues, she added.

She said my doors are opened for everyone. She said I also know well Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh consul general India as he was with me at Arabic langue course in Jordon.

Answering to a question Fozia said I suggest and recommended in diplomacy, more female diplomats employed by the Pakistan Ministry of foreign affairs for KSA making Pakistan proud.

Being house wife and diplomat she said some time it is very difficult and challenging. Because both have demands. But with the Grace of Allah my family particularly my husband (Ahmed) is very cooperative and supporting so I can managed easily.

She lauded The Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman vision 2030 and leadership for Muslim Ummah

She praised and thanked for the cooperation of Shehryar Akbar Khan consul general Pakistan. Arshad Munir consular (press) was also present at the interview.
