On the 10th of October 1951, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, in a Statement of Resignation from the Union Cabinet, expressed in extremely strong terms, his dissatisfaction about the foreign policy of the then Government of India, headed by a great Kashmiri Pandit – Jawaharlal Nehru. Baba Saheb lamented that in 1947 when India achieved Independence, all the countries in the world were its friends, but four years later, all friends have ceased to be friends as evidenced from the fact that our country had none to support its Resolutions in the United Nations.

Regarding the Kashmir issue, he pointed out- to quote his golden words verbatum: “ the real issue on which we are fighting –who is in the right and who is in the wrong. The real issue, to my mind, is not who is in the right but what is right.”

He further added: that “My view has always been is that the right solution is to partition Kashmir. Give the Hindu and Buddhist part to India and the Muslim part to Pakistan as we did in the case of India. We are not really concerned with the Muslim part of Kashmir. It is a matter between the Muslims of Kashmir and Pakistan. They may decide the issue as they like it.

Yet another suggestion was that Kashmir may be divided into three parts – the cease-fire zone; the valley and the Jammu-Ladakh Region and to hold a plebiscite only in the Valley.
HOW SAGACIOUS IS THE SOLUTION SUGGESTED BY THE SAGE!
