The assertion of the Sangh Parivar that Hinduism and members of the Hindu majority community in the country are AGAINST BEEF EATING is CENT PER CENT false. If one reads this write-up dispassionately, one will certainly admit that what I say is right.
The world famous Hindu philosopher saint Swamy Vivekananda, addressing a meeting at the Shakespeare Club, in Pasadena, California in the USA on the 2nd of February 1900 said: “YOU WILL BE ASTONISHED IF I TELL YOU THAT, ACCORDING TO THE OLD CEREMONIALS HE IS NOT A GOOD HINDU WHO DOES NOT EAT BEEF ON CERTAIN OCCASIONS, HE MUST SACRIFIC A BULL AND EAT IT” – vide “BUDDHISTIC INDIA” in the “THE COMPLETE WORKS OF SWAMI VIVEKANANDA” Vol.3, Calcutta:Advaita Ashram, 1997 edition, page 536.
Shri C.KUNHA RAJA – a HINDU Vedic Scholar – states on “VEDIC CULTURE” in the “ THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF INDIA” edited by Suniti Kumar Ghosh and others; Vol I Calcutta stated : “ THE VEDIC ARYANS, INCLUDING THE BRAHMINS, ATE FISH, MEA AND EVEN BEEF. A DISTINGUISHED GUEST WAS HONOURED WITH BEEF SERVED AT A MEAL. ALTHOUGH THE VEDIC ARYANS ATE BEEF, MILCH COWS WERE NOT KILLED. ONE OF THE WORDS THAT DESIGNATED COW WAS AGHNYA [what shall not be killed]. IT IS ONLY BULLS,BARREN COWS AND CALVES THAT WERE KILLED.”
The brightest jewel in this crown of assertion that Vedic Hindus ate BEEF is the COLLECTION OF DOCUMENTARY FACTS FROM VEDIC SCRIPTURES TO ESTABLISH THAT ARYANS ATE BEEF.
